IEPE - Intermediate English for
Post-Secondary Education

  • Training in university-specific skills such as speaking, organizing, summarizing, and note-taking.
  • Practice in academic writing, listening, vocabulary, and reading.
  • Small classes for more individual attention in grammar, communication, reading comprehension, and listening skill.
  • Access to experienced and helpful teachers, informative Pathway advisors, and knowledgeable academic counselor.
  • Monthly school tours and information sessions with a variety of universities and college.
  • High level training and preparation for EP.
  • No TOEFL/IELTS entrance exams upon completion of EPE to specific pathway partner school.
Program Length
  • 4 or 8 week certificate program
  • Schedule: 8:30 am – 1:00 pm
  • Average 22.5 hours in class per week, 270 hours total
Entry Requirements

Students must have either TOEFL: CBT 133 / iBT45/46; TOEIC: 550; or completed level 3 at KGIC or any recognized international equivalency test score or a pass on our entrance exam. Interview required

Exit Requirements

Program exit level is KGIC Proficiency Test score of 65 and an overall of 80% on the entire program. If a student fails to meet these requirements, they can take an additional month and re-write the exit test.

Weekly Topics

Month 1

  • Week 1: Food & Diet - Taste & genetically modified food
  • Week 2: Success- Skillsforsuccess, negotiating for success
  • Week 3: Media - Advertising, violence on TV
  • Week 4: Our urban life - City development, campaigning

Month 2

  • Week 1: Psychology - Critical thinking & impression
  • Week 2: Society - Ethics and social responsibility
  • Week 3: Technology - Technical influences & robotics
  • Week 4: History - Detecting bias & past communication

Your Goal

You wish to complete English for Post-Secondary Education and study for a diploma or university degree at a public or private post secondary institution
