The following is an outline of the various policies in place at
King George
International College.
These policies are designed to maintain the quality and
standards in all of the programs at KGIC.
Academic Honesty
KGIC is committed to excellence in education. Excellence in education is not just the responsibility of KGIC but is also the responsibility of all members of the KGIC community.
Academic dishonesty is not just harmful to the individuals involved but is harmful to the community at large. Academic dishonesty includes but is not limited to the following:
1. Cheating
2. Plagiarism
3. Stealing or buying work from another student
4. Submitting false work
5. Submitting false information (including transcripts)
The penalty for academic dishonesty may involve any combination of failing an assignment, test, or course, dismissal from a program, rejection of application, a verbal warning, a written warning, dismissal and/or expulsion from KGIC (see refund policy regarding expulsion from KGIC).
Attendance Policy
KGIC requires students to attend all classes in any given month.
However, sometimes students miss classes for a valid reason, such as illness.
If you miss three classes without a valid reason (the Director must authorize reasons) you will be dismissed from school for five days.
If you continue to miss classes without a valid reason, you may then receive a written warning and/or be permanently dismissed from school.
Valid reasons for missing classes include:
1. Illness with doctor's note
2. Family emergency
3. Personal leave (with Director's approval)
4. Official break (with Director's approval)
Dispute Resolution
What happens if you feel your transcript is in error? Or a test result was
unfair for some mitigating reason? Or you feel you qualify to move up a level
but you have not been moved?
KGIC is committed to fair and equitable treatment of all students.
If you have an issue you would like resolved, contact either your Program Director or Student Affairs Counselor, and they will put you in touch with the right person to help resolve your dispute.
Health Insurance
In order to attend King George International College each student must possess a valid health insurance policy.
Failure to obtain and show proof of this documentation to KGIC will invalidate any acceptance to any program at KGIC.
If a student does not have a health insurance policy, KGIC's counseling staff will be available to help.
Immigration Policy
Students should be aware that it is our policy to notify Immigration Canada about missing or absent students. In the event of a student's dismissal, failure to appear for classes after registration, and/or unscheduled or scheduled breaks from studying during their time at King George International College, Immigration Canada will be notified.
English Only Policy
KGIC is committed to offering students the best possible environment for learning. Part of this commitment is KGIC's English Only Language Policy. On campus at KGIC students are required to only use English for communicating, including use of on-campus telephones.
The English Only Policy is also in effect on all KGIC official fieldtrips and activities.
Between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM only English may be used on the computers in KGIC's computer labs.
The first violation of this policy results in a one-day dismissal.
The second violation results in a one-week dismissal.
The third violation results in expulsion from KGIC. (see KGIC refund policy)
Privacy and Data Protection Policy
The privacy of your data is very important to us and we are committed to safeguarding the information provided by our users. KGIC has created this Privacy Policy in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to your privacy and security.
KGIC does not share or divulge any information gathered online with any other companies such as data collection companies or advertising companies.

Probation and Expulsion Policy
Students who are found to be in violation of KGIC'S policies and regulations may be subject to probation and/or expulsion from King George International College.
Expulsion is a permanent status and students may not return to KGIC.
Dismissal and probation are temporary states and will expire after a set period of time has expired.
Punctuality Policy
Students at KGIC are expected to take a serious interest in their education, and are therefore expected to go to class on time.
King George International College reserves the right to suspend or dismiss any student for non-academic misconduct, which includes, but is not limited to, the following:
1.
Behavior that is generally considered to threaten or cause harm or injury to a person;
2.
Behavior that is generally considered to threaten or cause damage to KGIC's property or the property of others;
3.
Conduct that disrupts the educational activities, services or events provided for students or members of the community;
4.
Behavior or conduct that is otherwise unlawful.
Student Safety
Vancouver, Surrey, Victoria and Toronto are safe cities and certainly much safer than most cities in the world. However, every city has elements of crime and so students should always exercise caution when moving throughout the city or at night. If you feel threatened or endangered in anyway, call the police immediately by dialing 911. It is a free call.
Avoid potential problems by walking in groups or well-lighted areas and do not carry large sums of cash with you.
